By Unboxing: Neca TMNT 1/4 Scale Leonardo
Today I have a big unboxing – both in terms of the item and size. When it comes to Neca TMNT these are some of the most desirable pieces and rightfully so. I am talking about the massive 1/4 scale TMNT movie figures, in particular this unboxing will be of Leonardo! Based off the 1990’s TMNT movie, this figure stands 18 inches tall with 30 points of articulation and has the same awesome details that we saw with the standard size versions.
I have other 1/4 scale figures in my collection but was still surprised at the size and weight of this massive figure. It comes in at nearly 10 pounds so definitely carries some heft. The box has similar art display as the smaller size versions with the classic 90s movie look on the front and back. Leo looks ready to get out of there so let’s unbox!
The details are incredible & seeing them in this size/scale makes it even better. Color tones, skin pigmentation, the look & feel are all spot one and make this turtle come to life. Hard to describe how realistic it looks so check out some pictures to get a better idea.
As with other NECA TMNT figures, this comes with a good set of extras including multiple hand sets, a large slice of pizza, a much appreciated TGRI mutagen canister, and of course Leo’s katanas (swords). Great detail on all of these as well and nice solid & sturdy build. I really am blown away and as a turtle fan this is a dream come true type of figure. The only problem is that now I feel compelled to slowly complete the set of 4, which will no doubt require a good amount of display space!
Some awesome details going on here – for a toy turtle this is very lifelike. Articulation is pretty good, it has multiple points of movement and for a large figure it offers flexibility. I tend to try and not bend too much in the rare occurrence that you over extend and end up with loose limbs – been known to happen with Neca figures.
The back shell and weapon holders are also great, very detailed and weathered look. Neca did a great job keeping this figure in line with the TMNT movie character.
Here is is compared to the 6.5 inch version of himself which realy shows size. Both have awesome details but the scale is pretty crazy, definitely a stand out piece in any collection.
The difference in hand size really shows how large this figure is compared to the normal set, almost scary in size!
